What's Coming to Asset Essentials

Import Assets and Users in Asset Essentials

A new import experience is coming to the Asset and User list pages in Asset Essentials. This update will help administrators add large sets of asset and user records without creating each record manually.

Administrators will be able to upload structured CSV files that include key asset and user details, such as asset names, IDs, categories, locations, hierarchy information, user names, email addresses, roles, and sites. Before the import is completed, Asset Essentials will check the file for common issues, including missing required values, duplicate records, and formatting errors. If issues are found, clear validation messages will help users make corrections before trying again.

Access to import will follow existing user permissions, so only authorized users can manage bulk updates. This update will reduce manual entry, improve data consistency, and help teams set up and maintain Asset Essentials more efficiently.

Export Assets in Asset Essentials

A new export experience is coming to the Asset list page in Asset Essentials. This update will make it easier to download asset data for offline review, reporting, sharing, or record-keeping.

Users will be able to export asset records using flexible options. The export settings will allow users to choose the columns to include, such as only the columns currently visible in the grid or the full set of available columns. Users can also choose the records to export, including selected items, the current page, selected pages, or all pages.

The export will support multiple file formats, including CSV, XLSX, PDF, RTF, and XLS. CSV will be the default format and is best suited for update-and-reimport workflows because it aligns with the updated import structure.

This enhancement will give users more control over exported asset data and support common tasks such as reviewing asset records, preparing reports, sharing information, and maintaining accurate asset data outside Asset Essentials.
